The Island President. Samuel Goldwyn Films in association with Impact Partners. Starring the former President of The Maldives Islands, Mohamed Nasheed.

This documentary is about Nasheed appealing to the world leaders at the 2009 Copenhagen Climate Summit to reduce carbon emissions. The Malives is considered to be the lowest lying country in the world. If the ocean level rose just a mere three meters in sea level, the Maldives would literally be underwater and could very well suffer the fate of Atlantis and disappear.

Nasheed made his case and caught the attention of the world causing China, India and the U.S. to agree to reduce carbon emissions for the first time ever. Unfortunately, Nasheed was forced to resign as President in February of this year as a result of a Coup d’ etat lead by opposition leaders, military and police force still loyal to the former dictator Maumoon Abdul Gayoom.
