Wrath Of The Titans. Warner Bros. Pictures. Starring Sam Worthington, Rosamund Pike, Liam Neeson and Rolph Fiennes
Directed by Jonathan Liebesman. Written by Dan Mazeau (story), David Leslie Johnson (story), Steve Knight (screenplay), Greg Bertani (story) and Beverly Cross (Source Material).

We don’t have much of a surprise here in terms of plot etc., but that is not why people flock to these types of films. They want to enjoy plenty of special effects, ass-whuppin and mind boggling scenery. This film delivers all of that in 3-D but the actual battle  is disappointing because there is not much of it!

Movie Review - American Reunion

Movie Review - American Reunion

Jason Biggs & crew (Universal Pictures Photo)
American Reunion. Universal Pictures. Starring Jason Biggs, Alyson Hannigan, Chris Klein, Thomas Ian Nicholas, Tara Reid and Seann William Scott. Co-Directed by Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg. Written by Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg and Adam Herz. Produced by Craig Perry, Warren Zide, Chris Moore and Adam Hertz.

The gang is back for the fourth installment of the American Pie franchise. The film is very predictable if you follow romantic comedies i.e., man and wife grow apart, both try things outside of the marriage that screw up, they reconcile, do the “I-love-you confession scene” and all ends well. The die hard franchise fans will love this.

Movie Review - Mirror Mirror

Movie Review - Mirror Mirror

Julia Roberts, The Queen (Relativity Media Photo)
Mirror Mirror. Relativity Media. Starring Julia Roberts, Lily Collins, Armie Hammer, Nathan Lane, Mare Winningham, Michael Lerner, Robert Emms and Sean Bean. Directed by Tarsem Singh. Screenplay by Marc Klein, Jason Keller and Melisa Wallack. Produced by Bernie Goldmann, Ryan Kavanaugh and Brett Ratner.

Everybody and their momma knows the fairytale story of Snow White. This film adaptation totally
 missed the mark.

The acting was too bland and stiff while the situations with the dwarfs were uneventful. The film does not follow the original story in a good way, which throws off the knowledgeable viewer. Leave this one for late night cable viewing when you can’t sleep!

This one will become a cult classic, coming-of-age, teen movie. The subjects cover every facet of teenhood and the actors bring it all to life. The realness, honesty and positive messages makes this a must see movie for teens.

Movie Review - The Island President

Movie Review - The Island President

Nasheed at 2009 Climate Summit (S.G. Films Photo)
The Island President. Samuel Goldwyn Films in association with Impact Partners. Starring the former President of The Maldives Islands, Mohamed Nasheed.

This documentary is about Nasheed appealing to the world leaders at the 2009 Copenhagen Climate Summit to reduce carbon emissions. The Malives is considered to be the lowest lying country in the world. If the ocean level rose just a mere three meters in sea level, the Maldives would literally be underwater and could very well suffer the fate of Atlantis and disappear.

Mohamed Nasheed (S.G. Films Photo)
Nasheed made his case and caught the attention of the world causing China, India and the U.S. to agree to reduce carbon emissions for the first time ever. Unfortunately, Nasheed was forced to resign as President in February of this year as a result of a Coup d’ etat lead by opposition leaders, military and police force still loyal to the former dictator Maumoon Abdul Gayoom.

Movie Review - Intruders

Movie Review - Intruders

By Rych McCain International/Nationally Syndicated Entertainment Columnist

Clive Owen (Millennium Photo)
Intruders. Millennium Entertainment, Apaches Entertainment and Antena 3 Films. Starring Clive Owen, Carice Van Houten, Daniel Bruhl, Pilar Lopez De Ayala, Ella Purnell, Izan Corchero, Kerry Fox and Hector Alterio. Directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo. Screenplay by Nico Casariego and Jaime Marques. Produced by Enrique Lopez-Lavigne, Belen Atienza and Mercedes Gamero.

We may have the classic “boogie-man” story in this one. “Hollow Face” is a spooky, shadowy figure who lurks in the dark corners of your room at night. He appears to have no details to make out a face. He begins to stalk Mia (Purnell) after she was attacked in her own bedroom. Her dad John (Owen) sets on a mission to destroy Hollow Face any way he can. This is a good mystery as well as it is horror. Fans of this genre will get off on it!

Jeff, Who Lives At Home. Paramount Pictures. Starring Jason Segel, Ed Helms, Judy Greer, Rae Dawn Chong and Susan Sarandon. Co-Written and Directed by Jay and Mark Duplass. Produced by Lianne Halfton, Russell Smith and Jason Reitman.

Here we have one of the most boring story lines in film this year. The cast is great but the material in marginal with no flavor. A dismal $800,000 opening box office weekend says it all. Forget this one!

Movie Review - The Hunger Games

Movie Review - The Hunger Games

By Rych McCain International/Nationally Syndicated Entertainment Columnist

Jennifer Lawrence (Lionsgate Films Photo)
The Hunger Games. Lionsgate Films. Starring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Helmsworth, Amandla Stenberg, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz, Stanley Tucci, Donald Sutherland, Wes Bentley, Toby Jones, Alexander Ludwig, Isabelle Fuhrman, Jack Quaid, Dayo Okeniyi, Leven Rambin, Willow Shields and Paula Malcomson. Directed by Garry Ross. Screenplay by Gary Ross, Suzanne Collins and Billy Ray. Produced by Nina Jacobson and Jon Kilik.

The movie is based on the best selling Hunger Games book trilogy written by Suzanne Collins. The premise is mentally and spiritually sick in that once a year the 12 districts of Panem would offer up in tribute one young man and woman, to fight to the death in a pageant of honor, courage and sacrifice.

Woody Harrelson & Jenn Lawrence (Lionsgate Photo)
This was the punishment the districts had to endure as a result of their uprising against the government. The film will hold your attention throughout. As with all films made from best selling books with a built in fan base, it should be a box office smash.

Movie Review - John Carter

John Carter. Disney Pictures. Starring Taylor Kitsch, Bryan Cranston, Daryl Sabara, Lynn Collins, Claran Hinds, James Purefoy, Dominic West, Mark Strong, Willem Dafoe, Thomas Haden Church, Samantha Morton and Polly Walker. Directed/Screenplay by Andrew Stanton. Screenplay by Mark Andrews and Michael Chabon. Produced by Lindsey Collins, Colin Wilson and Jim Morris

John Carter was originally introduced to the reading public in 1912 via the Edgar Rice Burroughs classic “A Princess of Mars,” which was the first novel in Burroughs’ Barsoom series.

Taylor Kitsch & Space Dog (Disney Photo)
Over years of being transformed into comic books and TV it is a 3-D movie now! The 3-D isn’t that great and should have just been a regular flick. The story line and action are in great sync with each other. A very entertaining flick for the entire family although the monsters may scare the dickens out of children five and younger.

**** Excellent (Ride In The Front, 1st Class)!
